Psychologist Robert Plutchik explored “The Nature of Emotions” and developed a color wheel as a framework to bring clarity to the complexity of emotions. Plutchik’s wheel of emotions is colorful and gradated to suggest both how emotions can intensify and how they relate to one another. At School Stories Lab, we are fascinated by the nuances of emotions—especially as they color our experience with school. Inspired by Plutchik, we have designed our own color wheel to code our stories by emotion.
